Blue Velvet

Blue Velvet. David Lynch and Twin Peaks inspired. Mystery behind the curtains of another dimension. How can we every know the vast world from our limited conceptual mind? How can we ever touch the truth behind the facade? Where to cut into our nonsense, the neurotic ego-centered petty mind?

Seven Virtues of Bushido - The Way of the Warrior

"Seven Virtues of Bushido" - Bushidō, (武士道, "the way of the warrior") is a Japanese term for the samurai way of life, loosely analogous to the concept of chivalry in Europe. Just like the knights of Europe, the samurai had a code to live by that was also based in a moral way of life.

The Seven Virtues are:
Righteousness (義)
Respect (礼)
Courage (勇)
Honour (名誉)
Benevolence (仁)
Sincerity (真)
Loyalty (忠義)

This Chinese calligraphy: "Seven Virtues of Bushido" in semi-cursive style. Sumi ink on rice paper, mounted on a dragon-pattern paper scroll. The image size is 33.5 by 11.5 in. The full scroll size is 53 by 15 in. The handsome wooden rod at the bottom is 18 in. wide. Signed with the seal of the artist: "Tao (the Way)."
